I'm sorry about the "teaser" in the earlier post.  I have had plans to give you a full Kitchen Tour for a while now but the timing was never right.  Or, if the timing was right then the weather wasn't cooperating.  Today the sun actually came out!!!  By the time I grabbed my camera and decided to take pictures I realized that I needed to do a bit of clean-up before having company.  Isn't that the way it always works?
So here it is...
Drumroll Please!!!

This is the view walking into the room from the Living Room, Dining Room area.  I love the openness of the room.  We (my husband and I) designed this house in 2002.  Mr. Beaux has a degree in architecture and I am an Interior Designer so it's a great mix.  Every detail of this house from moldings to knobs to paint colors were our choices.  This was the first time that we were able to build a home from the ground up. In every other house we had lived in there was always something that we desperately wanted to change or something that we ended up redoing to our liking.  Not in this house!  (OK, I really DO want a Bigger Master Closet).
Here is the same view as we move into the room.
And from the opposite corner you get a full view of the kitchen and dining area.  Let me tell you that we really LIVE in this room!!!  This is where we eat all of our meals, watch TV, do homework, Blog, and just hang out.
This great table expands to 10 feet.  Yep!  10 Feet!  See the ends there?  They slide out and I have other leaves that slip in to make a 10 foot table.
The island is 8' 3" long.  That was the biggest slab of granite that we could get without having a seam.
The barstools are tucked under the island to blend in without being seen.  We had other larger barstools with backs before but they always seemed to be in the way.  I like these much better.  The Corbels are repeated on the island, the fireplace and above the window.
I love the contrasting stains.

The dish cupboards are my favorite design.  I love the arched glass doors and the moldings.
We thought for a long time about where to place the Microwave in this kitchen.  We decided on this placement mostly because our children were older and it wouldn't be a hazard.  With tiny ones I'm not sure this would work out.
I'm thinking about either painting inside the cupboards or wallpapering for some contrast.  I really like that look.
These large drawers hold mostly bowls and plastic-ware.  Where does it all come from?

More dishes!
The Farmhouse sink and the Rohl faucets get quite a workout as there always seems to be dishes to do.  On a trip to Italy we went to Cortina and had a blast buying pottery.  The footbath behind the faucet is my absolute favorite piece in our collection.  It is NEVER moving from this spot.
OK, the MOST used spot in this kitchen is the coffee center!!!  The Keurig and the Nespresso (a Christmas gift from Williams Sonoma) are used all day every day!!!  The Nespresso heats and froths the milk just like Starbucks.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Hey, it keeps me out of Starbucks and everyone needs a splurge item right?
The Viking Range had been a dream of mine for quite a while before building this house.  We have a pop-up vent instead of a hood over the range to make a spot for the Chandy.

On our 25th wedding anniversary trip to Italy we had this plate made for us.  It makes me happy every time I look at it.
 Well there you have it.
Thank you for visiting and taking the tour of my Kitchen and Hearth Room with me.  I've really enjoyed having you.  I truly enjoy each and every one of you and all of your kind comments.  I feel like I am inviting you into my home each time I write a post.  Like we are sitting down for coffee and I am sharing my recent treasure finds with you or my remodeling projects...  Like good friends!!!  Speaking of friends, I hope I can figure that Linky thing out soon.  Have a great weekend!
